Behind-the-Wheel Course (teen)

The mandatory 7-day state course for applicants under age 18 to earn a driver's license.


Applicants under age 18 must have:

  • a Virginia learner's permit
  • a Virginia-approved Driver Education Course Certificate of Completion
  • AT LEAST 30 hours of guided practice completed and logged; 45 hours with at least 15 hours after sunset is required for a driver's license 

Behind-the-Wheel Course (adult)

The optional 7-day state course for applicants age 18 or older to earn a driver's license.


Applicants age 18 or older must have:

  • a Virginia learner's permit
  • a Virginia-approved Driver Education Course Certificate of Completion


Must know how to drive for the base price.

Driving Lessons

In-car instruction for those learning how to drive or improving driving skills.


Applicants age 15 1/2 or older must have:

  • a valid leaner's permit from any state
  • a valid driver's license from any state
  • other documents need a DMV check


Driver Improvement

Online Driver Edcuation

Applicants must:

  • be at least age 15 years 6 months old
  • be able to work independently
  • be comfortable using a computer
  • be able to print documents as needed
  • be able to come to the school to complete the final exam

DMV Test 3 Times Failure

Applicants who failed the written test 3x must complete the 8-hour Driver's Manual Course before being allowed to retake the knowledge/permit test.


Applicants must have:

  • picture ID
  • a Viriginia-approved Driver Education Course Certificate of Completion (only if under age 18)


Applicants who failed the road test 3x must complete the in-car portion (7 day course) of the Virginia Driver Education Program.
