Behind-the-Wheel is a course with 14 mandatory 50-minute periods of in-car instruction. The class is divided into 7 days, and each day is 50 minutes of driving and 50 minutes of observing another student. The observation periods are required and cannot be waived.
The price for the Adult Behind-the-Wheel course is $300. The deposit fee is $150.

The school and instructors work together to plan session for behind-the-wheel. Students will choose the session with the dates and times that work best for them. If the student misses a class period, there will be delay in completion. The delay could be days or weeks. Students should make plans to attend every class period for the session chosen. Students are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.
We provide pickup and drop-off for local students in specific areas of Newport News, Hampton, Yorktown, and Poquoson. If you are outside of those areas, you will need to plan a drop-off at the driving school for your driving periods.

Yes. The road test is administered by the instructor during the final (7th) behind-the-wheel class period. The road test given by Top Notch Driving School is the same as the road test given by the DMV, it is not easier. You will not be passed automatically because you paid money for the program. The same testing rules apply to you when taking the road test with the school as they would if being administered by the DMV. The first test attempt is part of the course, all other attempts have a $35 fee each.
No, a transcript will not be accepted. You must contact the school you attended for driver education and ask for a new certificate. The DMV requires student files to be kept for a minimum of 3 years. However, some schools with digital records keep student files for much longer.
If you have never taken the driver's education course, then you can take the course at any DMV-licensed driver training school. The course is available in two (2) formats, in-classroom or online.
